Instead of using wheels as its guide, the Sports Turbo Groover is built with flat skids integrated directly into the tool’s body. These skids distribute pressure across a wide surface area—much like how snowshoes or skis spread weight so you don’t sink into fresh powder. This wider footprint prevents the groover from digging deeper when the cushioned floor compresses underneath the installer’s groover, keeping the cutting depth steady and uniform regardless of pace or applied pressure.

Wheel-based groovers, by contrast, focus all pressure onto two tiny points, the same way your feet alone would sink into soft snow. As the installer moves, the cushion beneath the wheels compresses and decompresses, causing the groover to rise and sink as it rolls.
